QualTek Molecular Laboratories offers a wide range of services which run the spectrum of IHC applications for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic research institutes using paraffin and frozen tissue sections. We optimize IHC protocols for primary antibodies targeting well-characterized or novel biomarkers that are either purchased commercially or supplied by the client.
QualTek can perform a range of study types and we take a custom approach considering the potential commercialization of assays early in the development stage. Our team of scientists develops and validates assays for the detection of specific markers in clinical trial samples. Studies are performed under GLP guidelines.
Services include specimen collection, protocol
development and validation, specimen testing, and analysis. QualTek understands the clinical and research immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization markets and we are available to help develop novel markers and detection systems for commercial use.

QualTek (IHC) Custom Studies Include:
Expert Advice on:
- Selection of the primary antibodies: commercial
and/or novel
- Selection of positive controls and tissues to be
analysed in the study
Optimization of IHC Assay:
- Selection of optimal antigen retrieval solution and enzyme digestion conditions to improve the exposure of the target antigen to the antibody
- Titration of primary antibody concentration
- Selection of optimal detection system (fluorescent, alkaline phosphatase, polymer, and peroxidase)
Interpretation and Analysis:
- Different levels of analysis available including analysis by a clinical or veterinary pathologist
- Image capture and image analysis
- QualTek e-report describing tissue reactivity containing scoring tables and representative digital images
QualTek Tissue Bank:
- Over 80,000 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded human tissues are available
- We also offer frozen tissue service and cell lines which can be used to further test the reactivity of the antibody or probe in question
- Surgical and autopsy cases and cover a broad array of diseases, normal tissues and tissue arrays
- Our tissues have the highest quality morphology
- When a specified tissue is unavailable on site, QualTek can help with tissue acquisition
- Additional histology services. Click Here for More Info
Additional Services:
- Competition Experiments: can be performed with peptides or recombinant protein to inhibit antibody staining
- Apoptosis Assays: to detect DNA fragmentation in cells in tissue sections
- Database and storage: Services for customer research tissues is available.
- Fluorescence staining: and other microscopy techniques (currently this excludes confocal microscopy)
- Staining with other markers: on the same tissues tested with your antibody or probe to further understand the expression of your target antigen in a given tissue. These markers can assist in identifying cell types as well as the biochemical status of a cell.
- Double-Label studies: may be performed whereby two different antibodies may be run on the same tissue section and visualized with different chromogens.
- Reagent Development Detection kits: QualTek has the capability and experience to provide a full service in the development and manufacturing of detection kits for immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry and in situ hybridization. We can customize the design and application of our process to develop biomarkers for diagnostic, prognostic or therapeutic applications.
